Tomaž Stich
Lead Engineer/Designer

Tomaž Stich, Certified Passive House Designer

Tomaž was born in Slovenia and raised in Germany, where he completed a four year apprenticeship to become a journeyman carpenter.

With years of hands-on building experience behind him, Tomaž found himself most inspired by the wooden materials used. He joined the University of Applied Sciences in Hildesheim, Northern Germany, to pursue a four year program in Wood Engineering. He wrote his thesis work at TRATEK, the Swedish Institute for Wood Technology Research in Stockholm, becoming a Graduate Engineer in Wood Engineering.

A passion for smart design and uncompromised energy efficiency inspired Tomaž to complete his certification as a Passive House Planner 2009 in Kempten, Germany.

After operating his own consulting business in Germany, Sweden, and Slovenia, Tomaž and his family moved to Canada in 2009 and currently live in beautiful Invermere, British Columbia. Tomaž, his wife Jasminka, and their two children love to spend time outside in the mountains. A passion for the environment and healthy living is what inspired Tomaž to start Stich Consulting & Design, a company committed to providing environmental solutions to the Canadian construction industry.

Jasminka Zumberovič-Stich

Administration

Jasminka was born and raised in Germany. From a young age, she started exploring the world, gaining insight into countries and cultures.

With a genuine passion for people and her ability to communicate fluently in five languages, a career in international business was a natural progression.

Jasminka and her husband, Tomaz, along with their two children moved from Europe to Canada with a desire to share their expertise and passion for Passive Houses. Living in the mountains of British Columbia – surrounded by nature – has expanded her desire to increase awareness about the carbon footprint of our homes.

Jasminka is an advocate for homes that are healthy – and truly environmentally sustainable. She is an active member in her community, through outdoor sport and local art. In her spare time, she loves to travel with her family and spend time in nature.
